Here’s a header I did for my friend Kate’s fashion blog. I drew the caricature of her and incorporated it with a fun, modern typeface.
Here’s a new website for Allie’s Figure & Day Spa. A gym and spa primarily for women, the entire place is in soft, soothing pinks. I designed the site to reflect that. The site includes lots of info on different services, an interactive map, plus a place for clients to submit their own testimonials about the business.
Here is the graphic for a new feature that provides suggestions for what to wear to different occasions.
Here’s a flyer for a brunch for all the moms with kids going back to school.
Here’s an email I sent out advertising the boutique’s latest styles in for Spring.
The owner wanted something new for her new location. She loves things pink and girly, and I thought this perfectly fit in with her new decor.
Here are graphics for the Material Girl Boutique’s new Spring floral look.
It’s Spring! So I added the roses that were everywhere on the spring runways. I also switched all the fonts to an easy to read, classic serif.
I hosted Pokeno at my house, so I had to make a custom invitation for the occasion. The black and white chevron, aqua accent and gold deer mimic my home decor.
The mom wanted a sock monkey theme for her adorable son’s first birthday.
Spring is here, and fashion is all about color. Here’s a fun sign for the store with a vintage vibe.
This is a poster to place in the retail store to promote the online store.
The client wanted the 1950s vibe I have been doing lately for her New Year’s Party held at her home.
Baby Bee wanted a flyer with a 50s vibe to announce their upcoming free holiday download.
Here’s a design I did for a hair show/rock show at a salon. One part style. One part rock and roll.
This client told me her sons are obsessed with the tv show “Swamp People”, so we thought the boys would love that theme for their Christmas card this year. It’s not my usual design style to include an air boat (haha), but it’s now one of my favorites. I laugh every time I see it.
(I changed the names and replaced the real photos with stock photos for my website)
This client wanted two reindeer, with her son’s pic used for one of them. I came up with this casual design with the burlap background and the family cat, and she loved it!
(I changed the names and replaced the real photos with stock photos for my website)
Here’s a band flyer I made for Baby Bee. I researched 50s concert posters for inspiration.
Here’s a slideshow for http://www.ilovematerialgirl.com, which I just updated. I changed a few things about the design to make it feel more fresh.
Here’s an ad featuring a new collection arriving at the boutique. The image was primarily of black, white and grays, so I think the bold goldenrod stood out nicely.
At Material Girl, we had just came up with our fall campaign, and we were throwing our annual Pink Party to benefit Susan. G. Komen for the Cure. I designed this website for people to go to to get more info on the party, the new fall lines and a new contest.
For our Fall Campaign, we came up with the slogan “See. Shop. Love.” I love the simplicity of it, and the photoshoot for it matched perfectly. This ad ran in our local magazine advertising our new Fall Campaign & Event website: www.seeshoplove.com
I was in a vintage kinda mood today for this one. I love it, and I want to do more designs in this style.
Here’s a wedding invitation I did for a dear friend. She was having a small, country wedding, and the fun, casual look of this fit perfectly.
Here’s a slideshow for ILoveMaterialGirl.com promoting an interview with Lauren Conrad about her new line, Paper Crown. I was inspired colors and textures of the line, and I had a lot of fun adding the hand-drawn elements to each slide.
Here’s a website I just put together for brothers Joe & David Stark for their new band, Baby Bee. They wanted a vintage rock feel, so making the logo look like an old sticker and putting the images in Polaroids helped achieve this. The black alligator background is just the South Louisiana icing on the cake.
Here’s a logo I did for a restaurant hoping to completely change its image. The previous look was outdated, and now they are looking for a fresh, modern Mediterranean feel. The olive leaf can be used as a sub logo.
This party at Material Girl was to introduce the store’s Fall Collections. Love the dress. Loving this retro font and glowing effect on the type.
Here’s an exercise with type. Even though I usually go with the idea that the less words you include in an ad, the better, here’s an exception. Keeping the type all the same font and alternating the colors makes it eye-catching and interesting.
Here’s an invitation for a man’s birthday party. This guy loves to be on the water. I love the chevron detail in the background on this one.
Here’s another flyer for Material Girl boutique’s monthly party. For this one, I went with a 60s vibe. I used Material Girl’s signature salmon color for the background.
Here’s an email for ILoveMaterialGirl.com using a photo from the latest lookbook at the time. The rock and roll feel inspired me to use the bold colors and type.
Here’s my second ad for the Kidz Rock Camp. The guys decided they wanted a new look this year, and I’m glad they did. This one is fun and the bright orange practically lept off the page of the local magazine it was printed in.
This is what you see instead of the “Wall” when you become a fan on Material Girl’s facebook page.
Here’s a flyer for Material Girl boutique’s monthly party. This one had a Cinco de Mayo theme. The vintage style photo serves a backdrop for the bright lime green and salmon headlines.
For the grown-up girly girl. Tiffany blue background and a crown with sophisticated type and setting.
In March, Material Girl decided to expand its business into the world wide web. After sketching many layouts until I decided which would suit us best, then many, many late nights hovering over my Powerbook (complete with a few perfectionist-fueled tears), I finally finished it. It was a definite challenge, which makes it my favorite project yet. The website launched the beginning of May, and I am constantly still updating it. ILoveMaterialGirl.com
The website is my original design. Thank you, Jory Cordy, for photography.
So we were announcing the launch of the new website I’d been working on for months. I have to give credit to the photographer, Jory Cordy for the fabulous photo. I designed to ad to demand attention, and I think it worked. I love using a large photo with minimal type to achieve this.
Now that Material Girl had a brand spankin’ new logo, it was time to update the business cards. The website is named ILoveMaterialGirl.com, so the heart with “MG” in it appears as a secondary logo in all the advertising. These business cards are the same height as the standard size, but they are thinner, making them square.
Material Girl needed something more modern, yet it still needed to convey the feminine, fun nature of the store. I tried many fonts but couldn’t find the perfect one. I finally decided to draw this one from scratch and manipulate it until it was exactly what I had in mind.
Here’s an online ad for Kate Stark’s style blog. I designed all the elements and published the blog for the client. Then, I taught her how to use the application for her later blog posts. KateStark.com
Love this baby shower invitation. It uses some of my favorite colors and the birds and polka dots add just the right amount of whimsy.
Here’s a email I designed to look like a fashion magazine article for Material Girl boutique.
Here’s a flyer I designed to promote the new Rebecca Minkoff handbags at Material Girl boutique.
Here’s a business card for an interior stylist. She had no logo and needed something quickly. The gray and gold mixed with he chandelier match her design aesthetic.
Here’s a poster displaying the rules for a contest at a boutique.
Here’s an ad to fit into a skinny ad space. I like the neon colors that were everywhere in 2010 fashion.
These guys host a rock camp for kids every summer. By the end of one week, the kids put on a concert complete with their own band names and handmade tshirts. Adorable.
This is a flyer for an open invitation art show. The client wanted something “clean” and “modern”–my favorite style, so I loved doing this. The brush strokes were created digitally for just a little artistic flair.
Here’s a simple graphic to be posted on Facebook advertising a sale. Sometimes its the simplest designs that make the biggest impact.
This mom-to-be loves the Blabla dolls, and her nursery featured the cutest Blabla mobile. I found a picture of the mobile and digitally drew one of the characters to be featured on her shower invitation. The stripes were also inspired by the design of her nursery.
This is a new company that, from what I understand, produces and treats the wood used for guitars. I drew the tree/guitar image digitally. I especially love the font on this one. I manipulated a few before I decided on this. It just screams “classic rockstar”, and I think the people who buy from this company will appreciate the overall feel.
A stylish salon owner was in need for a new look. She and her daughter wanted something fun, modern and feminine to reflect their growing business. The orchid was important to them, so I digitally drew my own version to fit their style.
This PoV Magazine spread is for a story about a couple who has eight children. The bright colors and fun fonts are great for a story about kids.
The Main Affair is an upscale catering hall that needed a new upscale look.
May is a busy month for Material Girl boutique, and the owner wanted to show all she had to offer. It’s time for graduations, weddings and summer shopping.
This ad ran in a local magazine. I had just finished their new logo, and they wanted to advertise all they had to offer.
Here’s a layout I did for PoV Magazine’s Christmas issue. Readers had submitted their favorite recipes, and we wanted the layout to convey a “homemade” feel.
Here’s a postcard I designed for Material Girl boutique to promote a spring discount. I took this photo of a model and added layers of color and various floral prints to give it a warm, vintage feel.
Here’s an ad for a flight school that I designed to run in a magazine. They wanted something bright and eye-catching, and I think this did the trick.
This is a spread for an article on a local tattoo shop for “PoV Magazine”. I designed the article, but the ads at the bottom were submitted by other artists.
I designed this for a baby shower. The mother-to-be’s nursery theme includes jungle animals. I wanted to reflect that in a non-traditional way.
I had a business on Etsy (2008-2011) where I sold graphic design prints. Here is the logo I designed for it. I created the letters for the font myself, and I drew the little blue bird to sit atop the “i”.
